Custom dashboards

Build your own dashboards from charts, numbers, tables, and notes, and share them.

Each site has the built-in Overview and up to 20 custom dashboards. A custom dashboard holds up to 40 widgets. Each widget shows one question about your visits: a chart, a number, a table, or a note.

Make a dashboard

Open the dashboard menu beside the site name, then choose one of these:

  • New dashboard starts with no widgets.
  • Duplicate Overview starts with the Overview's charts as widgets, so you can change them.

Only people who can change the site's settings can make, change, or delete dashboards. Every member of the team can view them.

Arrange widgets

Select Edit on a dashboard to arrange it:

  • Drag a widget by its handle to move it.
  • Select a widget, then pick a width: ¼, ⅓, ½, ⅔, or full.
  • Use the widget menu to duplicate it, move it, or remove it.
  • Change the name at the top.

crowne saves each change at once.

Build a widget

Select Add widget, or the pencil on a widget. The preview at the left shows the widget with real data while you change it. Use the period buttons above the preview to try other periods; they do not change the widget.

Choice What it does
Chart The kind of chart. When you change it, crowne keeps every choice the new chart can use.
Metrics What to count: visitors, visits, page views, views per visit, bounce rate, visit duration, events, conversions, or conversion rate.
Split by A dimension that gives one line, bar, or slice per value, such as source, country, or page.
Top How many values to show. The rest join Other where the chart adds parts up.
Then by A second dimension, for tables, heat tables, and 100% bars.
Only visits where Filters for this widget only. They add to the dashboard's filters.
Time The dashboard's period, or a period of the widget's own, such as the last 12 months.
Compare Shows the period before, where the chart can.
Width The widget's width on the dashboard.

Charts with parts, such as pie, stacked area, and waffle, add parts up. They show counts only, not rates.

Charts

Group Charts
Over time Line, area, stacked area, 100% stacked area, columns, stacked columns, step line, bump chart, week × hour, calendar, number with sparkline, number
Comparison Bar list, column, dumbbell, waterfall, bullet, table
Part to whole Pie, donut, gauge, waffle, sunburst, treemap, 100% bars, funnel
Relationships Scatter, quadrant, heat table, histogram
Places and flows Map, flow, note

Each chart widget can show its chart, its table, or both. Use the Chart, Table, and Both buttons above the preview.

A note holds text in Markdown: bold, italic, lists, and links. Use notes to explain a dashboard to the people who read it.

Period and filters

A dashboard uses the period and filters at its top, like the Overview. Select a value in a bar list to filter the whole dashboard by it.

crowne remembers the last period you picked, such as 7 days or Yesterday, in a cookie on your device. Every dashboard opens with that period until you pick another. A custom date range is not remembered.

Share a dashboard

Shared links and public sites show custom dashboards too. People who open them can pick a dashboard from the menu beside the site name, change the period, and add filters. They cannot change the dashboards.
