An agent, a script, or any program can sign up for crowne with no browser and no account. One call makes a site and a key, and starts counting at once. The person who will own the site claims it later from an email.
curl https://api.crowne.io/v1/signup \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{ "email": "you@example.com", "domain": "example.com" }'The answer holds the site id, a key with every scope, and the script tag with the id filled in. POST /v1/signup lists every field.
Start counting
Put the script tag on the site, or send events with the key from a server. The key shows only once, so store it as a secret at once.
The same key reads the site's stats and changes its goals and funnels through the REST API, so the agent can set up the site and report on it.
The claim
crowne emails a claim link to email. The owner opens it, signs in with that address, and the site moves to an org of theirs. An agent that signs up again with the same address gets 409, and crowne sends the claim link again.
Until the site is claimed:
- It counts up to 10,000 events, for 7 days. After that, crowne refuses its events until the owner claims it.
- Its org holds that one site only.
- It is deleted, with its events, 30 days after sign-up.
Once claimed, the site has the free trial: up to 100,000 events, for 30 days from sign-up. Each person gets one trial, whatever +tag the address carries.
Limits
An IP address can sign up three times an hour. Addresses at throwaway email services are refused.
